About La Roche-Posay

La Roche-Posay is a dermocosmetics brand of L'Oréal that grew out of the thermal spa in the French town of the same name; its mineral-containing thermal water is a central ingredient. L'Oréal describes it as a specialist for sensitive skin within its Active Cosmetics division, relying on dermatological research and on recommendations from dermatologists and other health professionals.

La Roche-Posay by the numbers

The 32 La Roche-Posay products in INCIMondo cover face care, body care and sun care. GLYCERIN leads the ingredients after water, followed by CITRIC ACID, NIACINAMIDE (vitamin B3, a skin-conditioning ingredient), DISODIUM EDTA and CAPRYLYL GLYCOL.

Fragrance is the exception rather than the rule: only 8 formulas (25%) contain fragrance ingredients. Silicones, by contrast, are part of 19 (59%), and denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.) of 9 (28%). None of the 32 formulas contains parabens.

Looking past the sensitive-skin label

A positioning for sensitive skin describes a target group rather than a composition, so the list itself is where to check whether a product is one of the few with fragrance or one of the many with silicones – the latter recognisable by endings such as -cone or -siloxane.
