Our review

An alcohol-free, lightly perfumed aftershave balm based on aloe vera juice, chamomile water, shea butter and glycerin, with a little caffeine. The available reviews are very positive but few and come from the brand’s own store.

Packaging and what the product is

The photo on yvesrocherusa.com shows a matte black 100 ml tube with a black cap and white text: “Baume après-rasage – Aftershave Balm”, “hydrate, apaise / moisturizes, soothes”, “à l’aloe vera bio & à la camomille bio”, with the Yves Rocher logo. It is a leave-on balm for the face (and beard) after shaving.

Ingredient analysis

Water and aloe vera leaf juice open the list, followed by isopropyl palmitate (a light emollient), glycerin, sorbitan stearate and shea butter. Roman chamomile flower water adds a soothing note. Ceteth-20 and stearyl alcohol help form the emulsion, carbomer and xanthan gum thicken it, and sodium PCA adds moisture.

Allantoin, caffeine, tocopheryl acetate and red maple (Acer rubrum) extract are minor actives. It is preserved with sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate, supported by hydroxyacetophenone, and contains a parfum without declared allergens. Importantly for an aftershave, there is no ethanol.

What to watch out for

The added fragrance may bother very sensitive or freshly irritated skin, although no allergens are declared. Isopropyl palmitate is considered potentially pore-clogging for some acne-prone skin. Do not apply to cuts or razor-burned skin that is broken.

On the Yves Rocher USA store the balm has 4.9/5 from 36 reviews (checked 31 Oct 2026). Most visible reviews are 5/5 and many come from people buying for a partner: they mention a pleasant scent, that it can be used on face and beard, and that it does not need rinsing – one wrote “My husband loved this.” One 4/5 review found it a little too fragrant.
