Packaging and what the product is

The manufacturer’s photo shows a white 250 ml squeeze tube with Eucerin’s red logo and a dark-blue band, labelled “DermoCapillaire – Urea mildes kopfhautberuhigendes Shampoo” for dry, itchy scalps, with “5% Urea + Lactate + Polidocanol” printed near the bottom. It is a shampoo for regular use.

Ingredient analysis

The main surfactant is Sodium Myreth Sulfate, a milder relative of laureth sulfate, combined with Decyl Glucoside, Sodium Cocoamphoacetate and Coco Glucoside – a gentle cleansing mix. Urea is the third ingredient (5% according to the pack) and works with sodium lactate and lactic acid as humectants that help the scalp hold water.

Laureth-9 is the INCI name of polidocanol, an ingredient the brand uses for its soothing, cooling skin feel. Glyceryl oleate is a re-fatting agent, panthenol conditions, and Polyquaternium-10 makes hair easier to comb. Sodium benzoate and sodium salicylate preserve the formula.

What to watch out for

No parfum is listed (the tube says “ohne Duftstoffe”). Sodium salicylate is a preservative regulated in the EU; salicylic acid and its salts are not to be used in products for children under three, with an exception for shampoos. A shampoo is a cosmetic: persistent itching, redness or flaking should be checked by a doctor rather than managed with a shampoo alone.

On LOOKFANTASTIC the 250 ml shampoo had an average of 4.34/5 from 176 reviews (checked 30 October 2026). Most reviewers with a dry, itchy-feeling scalp say their scalp felt calmer and more comfortable – some immediately, some only after a few weeks – and like that it lathers easily and has no noticeable smell. One review summarises it as doing “what it says on the tin”. Few reviews say much about the effect on the hair lengths beyond noting that hair is left soft.

Who it may suit

Adults whose scalp feels dry, tight or itchy and who want a fragrance-free, mild shampoo. People with long or very dry lengths will probably still need a conditioner.
