Packaging and what the product is

The photo (from Open Beauty Facts) shows the 30 ml carton in Olay Regenerist’s silver-and-purple design, with a picture of the dark bottle with a dropper/pump top and the labels “Retinol 24 Night Serum” and “fragrance-free”. It is a leave-on face serum for evening use.

Ingredient analysis

The texture comes from a silicone system: dimethicone, dimethicone crosspolymer and dimethiconol give the smooth, powdery slip, and polyacrylamide with C13-14 isoparaffin and laureth-7 thickens. Glycerin is the main humectant.

The retinoid part is led by Retinyl Propionate, listed sixth – a retinol ester that is milder than retinol itself. Retinol, Niacinamide and Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 appear only near the end, after the preservatives (hydroxyacetophenone, phenoxyethanol, benzyl alcohol), so they are present in small amounts. Titanium dioxide and CI 77019 (mica) add opacity and a slight sheen.

What to watch out for

Any retinoid can cause dryness, redness or flaking, especially at the start; introducing it gradually and using daytime sun protection is the usual advice. The EU has set maximum concentrations for retinol, retinyl acetate and retinyl palmitate in cosmetics (Regulation (EU) 2024/996); retinyl propionate is not one of the esters named there. No fragrance is listed.

On Walmart the US 1.3 oz version had an average of 4.5/5 from 1,871 ratings (checked 30 October 2026), and on Life Pharmacy (UAE) the 30 ml serum had 4.1/5 from 10 ratings. Neither page showed written reviews that we could read, so we cannot summarise specific pros and cons; the ratings indicate that most buyers are satisfied, but they say nothing about individual tolerance.

Adults who want an easy, fragrance-free first retinoid serum with a light silicone feel. People with very reactive skin should start slowly; those looking for a high-strength retinol will find the retinol content here low.
