Packaging and what the product is

The manufacturer’s photo shows a 75 ml tube from the Emotopic line for dry and atopic skin. Pharmacies describe it as a face and body cream with very high protection (SPF 50+).

Ingredient analysis

UV protection comes from two mineral filters: titanium dioxide, in nano form as stated on the label, and zinc oxide. The base is a water-in-oil type emulsion with dicaprylyl carbonate and isohexadecane as light emollients, rapeseed and hemp seed oils, and glycerin. Honeysuckle and Laminaria extracts, tocopherol and hydroxyacetophenone (an antioxidant that supports preservation) complete the formula. There is no perfume.

What to watch out for

Mineral filters are regulated in the EU in Annex VI of the Cosmetics Regulation; the nano form must be marked “(nano)”, as it is here. Formulas with a high share of mineral filters can leave a white cast and feel thicker than chemical sunscreens. Protection depends on applying enough product and reapplying it.
