A fragrance-free 500 ml body balm for very dry, itch-prone skin, built on lightweight alkanes, shea and illipe butters and a lipid complex with plant sterols, phytosphingosine and centella-derived asiaticoside. French pharmacy customers rate it highly; the rich, lingering texture is the main drawback.

Packaging and what the product is

No official product image could be retrieved for this exact version, so none is cited. The balm comes in a 500 ml pump bottle and is applied to the body once or twice a day. Note that some retailers now list a newer Xémose balm under a different name, so check the INCI on the pack.

Ingredient analysis

Water, C13-15 alkane and hydrogenated polydecene form a light, spreadable oil phase, enriched with shea butter, illipe (Shorea stenoptera) butter and the esters cetearyl ethylhexanoate and isononyl isononanoate. Glycerin and butylene glycol are humectants. The more specific ingredients sit lower: rapeseed sterols, aminopropanediol esters and amides of raspberry seed, palm and borage oils, phytosphingosine and asiaticoside. Thickeners are xanthan gum and acrylate polymers; preservation is chlorphenesin, o-cymen-5-ol and 1,2-hexanediol.

What to watch out for

It is fragrance-free and declares no allergens. Chlorphenesin and o-cymen-5-ol are permitted preservatives with EU concentration limits. Itching can have medical causes; a moisturising balm does not replace a doctor’s assessment when itching is intense or persistent, especially in babies. The balm feels rich, so it may not suit humid weather.

On Redcare Pharmacie (France) the product page – shown for a 3 × 500 ml pack – had 4.8/5 from 89 ratings (checked 31 Oct 2026). Reviewers say it relieves the feeling of itchiness on dry skin, including on the back, and keeps skin comfortable for hours; several had tried many alternatives. A critical review found the texture far too greasy for a long time and the light smell unpleasant. One positive review was written by a retailer employee. Wizaż had no ratings yet, so overall the number of detailed opinions we could read was small.

Adults and families with very dry, tight or itch-prone body skin who want a fragrance-free balm and do not mind a rich finish. Those who prefer a light lotion, or who need treatment of a skin condition, should look elsewhere or seek medical advice.
