Our review

A classic purifying face wash for combination and oily skin, with a sulfate-plus-amphoteric surfactant base, zinc and copper sulfates and a light fragrance. Long-term users on Wizaż like how it cleans without irritation and how long the big bottle lasts; price and scent are the main reservations.

Packaging and what the product is

The quoted packshot from bioderma.fr shows a translucent turquoise bottle with a green pump labelled “Sébium Gel moussant – Nettoyant purifiant / Purifying cleansing foaming gel – combination/oily skin” in the 500 ml size; this database entry is the 200 ml version. It is a clear gel worked into a lather with water on the face and rinsed off.

Ingredient analysis

The cleansing system pairs Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, an amphoteric surfactant, with Sodium Laureth Sulfate – a combination that foams well while being gentler than SLES alone. Methylpropanediol is a humectant/solvent, and lactic acid with sodium hydroxide sets a skin-friendly pH.

Zinc sulfate and copper sulfate are the “purifying” minerals of the Sébium line. Ginkgo biloba leaf extract adds antioxidant support, and mannitol, xylitol, rhamnose and fructooligosaccharides are the sugars that Bioderma uses in its skin-ecology concept. PEG-90 glyceryl isostearate and laureth-2 soften the foam; potassium sorbate preserves it, and disodium EDTA is a chelator.

What to watch out for

The gel contains fragrance (parfum) and sodium laureth sulfate; very dry or compromised skin may feel tight after frequent use. As with any face wash, keep it out of the eyes.

What users say

On Wizaż the gel averages 4.1/5 from 200 ratings (checked 30 Oct 2026). Reviewers with combination, oily or blemish-prone skin say it cleans thoroughly, removes sebum and make-up residue, does not irritate and leaves the face fresh; several have used it for years or several bottles and like the large pump bottle for its value.

Reservations include the relatively high price, a scent some find unremarkable, and a feeling that it can be drying – one reviewer recommends following it with a good moisturiser, and another mentions a brief breakout at the start before her skin improved.

Who it may suit

Combination and oily skin, including blemish-prone skin, that tolerates sulfate cleansers and wants an everyday foaming wash. Dry, sensitive skin or people who avoid fragrance should consider a milder, fragrance-free cleanser.
