Our review

Dove’s classic 90 g beauty bar: a syndet bar based on sodium lauroyl isethionate with a share of fatty acids and soap, plus fragrance. It is one of the most-reviewed cleansing bars in Poland and very highly rated on dm; a few long-time users feel the current bar is harder and less creamy than before.

Packaging and what the product is

Dove’s official UK page shows the Original Beauty Cream Bar in its 2 × 90 g pack; the record here is the single 90 g bar. Reviewers describe a white, oval bar with the embossed Dove bird, sold in a cardboard box, that stays firm and does not turn mushy.

Ingredient analysis

Sodium lauroyl isethionate, a mild synthetic surfactant, is the main cleanser, so this is not a classic soap; stearic and lauric acids, sodium isethionate and cocamidopropyl betaine soften the lather, while sodium stearate, sodium palmate and sodium palm kernelate are true soaps that harden the bar. Glycerin is a humectant. Tetrasodium EDTA and tetrasodium etidronate bind water hardness minerals; zinc oxide and titanium dioxide (CI 77891) make it opaque and white.

What to watch out for

Parfum appears relatively high and declared allergens include alpha-isomethyl ionone, citronellol, coumarin, hexyl cinnamal, limonene and linalool – relevant for fragrance-allergic skin, even in a rinse-off product. Palm-derived soaps are present. Avoid the eyes; most users report no stinging.

On Wizaż the bar had 4.5/5 from 741 ratings, and on dm.de the 2 × 90 g pack 4.9/5 from 84 ratings (both checked 31 Oct 2026; dm notes that its published reviews took part in a prize draw). Users praise gentle cleansing that does not leave skin tight, creamy lather, a clean scent and a bar that lasts and stays firm; several have replaced shower gel with it. On dove.com UK, four reviews averaged 3.5/5, and two long-time users felt the current bar lathers less and feels less moisturising than the Dove they remembered.

Who it may suit

People who want a mild, affordable cleansing bar for body and hands and do not mind fragrance. Those with fragrance allergies, or who prefer a soap-free liquid or palm-free product, may choose differently.
