Our review

A budget shampoo for dry hair from the Italian Ultra Dolce range: an SLS cleansing base with argan and almond oils, guar conditioning and a strong fragrance profile. Fine for normal scalps; less so for sensitive ones.

Packaging and what the product is

Our database lists the entry just as “Ultra Dolce”. The quoted photo shows the exact variant: Garnier Ultra Dolce Rituale d'Argan “Shampoo cremoso nutriente” with almond cream and Moroccan argan oil, for dry or very dry hair, in a 250 ml beige bottle with a flip cap. The label highlights “94% natural origin” and a bottle made of 100% recycled plastic. It is the Italian edition; similar products are sold as Ultra Doux or Ultra Sweet elsewhere, but formulas can differ by country.

Ingredient analysis

The cleansing base is sodium lauryl sulfate with cocamidopropyl betaine, thickened with sodium chloride – an effective, inexpensive and fairly strong system. Care comes from argan kernel oil and sweet almond oil, glyceryl oleate and hydrogenated palm glycerides citrate, while hydroxypropyl guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride helps detangle wet hair. Coco-betaine, coco-glucoside and lauroyl/myristoyl methyl glucamide soften the surfactant blend, and glycol distearate gives the creamy, pearly look.

Preservation uses sodium benzoate and sorbic acid. Caramel colours the product, and the fragrance is accompanied by labelled allergens: linalool, coumarin, limonene, benzyl alcohol and benzyl salicylate.

What to watch out for

SLS can irritate sensitive or eczema-prone scalps, especially with frequent use, and five declared fragrance allergens matter if you have a fragrance allergy. The oils are present in small amounts after the fragrance, so the “nourishing” effect depends mainly on conditioning polymers and on using a conditioner.

We did not find a reliable set of user reviews for this specific Italian variant (30.10.2026). An Italian buyer's guide describes the Rituale d'Argan range as intended for dry, unruly hair, but without user ratings. We therefore give no average and suggest judging it by your own scalp's tolerance.

Who it may suit

People with a non-sensitive scalp and dry lengths who want an inexpensive, pleasantly scented shampoo and accept a sulfate base. Sensitive scalps or those avoiding SLS and fragrance should look at our sulfate-free shampoo list.
