Our review

A classic soap-based shaving cream in a tube, made from potassium and sodium soaps of stearin, coconut oil and olive oil, with glycerin, goat milk, pansy and almond extracts and a natural essential-oil fragrance. Reviews on medpex are strongly positive about the creamy lather, comfortable shave and economy, but many were submitted as part of a special promotion.

Packaging and what the product is

The quoted photo from weleda.de shows a dark blue tube with a white screw cap, labelled “Weleda seit 1921 – For Men – Rasiercreme / Crème à Raser – Schutz & Pflege – Für eine sanfte Nassrasur.” The brand sells it in 75 ml. It is a lathering shaving cream for wet shaving: a small amount is worked up with water by hand or with a brush into foam before shaving.

Ingredient analysis

This is a true soap-based cream. After water come Potassium Palmitate and Potassium Stearate (potassium soaps of stearin), then glycerin, Potassium Cocoate and Potassium Olivate; the matching sodium soaps (palmitate, stearate, cocoate, olivate) appear later. Potassium soaps keep the product soft and creamy, sodium soaps give firmer, longer-lasting foam, and glycerin adds slip and moisture.

Care extras are Goat Milk (organic), Viola Tricolor (pansy) extract and sweet almond fruit extract. Magnesium sulfate and sodium silicate adjust texture, potassium hydroxide is the saponifying alkali, and alcohol (organic) is present in a small amount. The fragrance is made from natural essential oils, with limonene, linalool, citronellol and geraniol declared. The current list on weleda.de additionally includes sodium citrate, which is missing from our database version.

What to watch out for

Soap-based lathers are alkaline by nature, which some people with very dry or reactive skin find less comfortable than syndet-based shaving gels. The four declared fragrance allergens are relevant for anyone with a known fragrance allergy. Keep foam out of the eyes. Goat milk makes the product unsuitable for those avoiding animal-derived ingredients.

What users say

On medpex the cream averages 4.6/5 from 78 ratings (79 experience reports; checked 30 Oct 2026). Many of the recent reviews are marked as having been submitted as part of a special promotion, which should be kept in mind. Shop Apotheke shows a single 5-star review. Reviewers describe a creamy, stable lather from a small amount, a smooth wet shave, skin that feels cared for and not tight afterwards, a light, unobtrusive scent and good value for the price.

Negative reviews were not visible; the only reservation among the four-star reviews was that the foam is not quite as rich as with some other products. Some users apply it by hand, others with a brush.

Who it may suit

Wet shavers who prefer natural-cosmetics formulas and a traditional soap lather, and who are comfortable with a light essential-oil scent. People with very sensitive or fragrance-allergic skin, or who prefer canned foam or gels, may want an alternative.
