Our review

A fragrance-free cream wash with niacinamide, shea butter and Vitreoscilla ferment in a mild SLES-based cleansing system; very highly rated by buyers with dry and sensitive skin, with price as the main complaint.

Packaging and what the product is

The photo (from Open Beauty Facts) shows the 200 ml white squeeze tube with a blue cap and La Roche-Posay’s blue square logo, labelled “Lipikar Syndet AP+ – crème lavante relipidante, anti-irritations, anti-grattage” in French and English. It is a body (and face) cream wash; a 400 ml pump bottle and refill pouches also exist.

Ingredient analysis

Cleansing comes from Sodium Laureth Sulfate softened by Coco-Betaine, Polysorbate 20 and PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, a re-fatting agent; PEG-200 Hydrogenated Glyceryl Palmate thickens the cream. Glycerin is second on the list. Niacinamide, Butyrospermum Parkii (shea) butter, mannose and Vitreoscilla ferment – the biotech ingredient the brand markets for its Lipikar line – are the care actives, present after the surfactants.

Polyquaternium-11 and acrylates copolymers condition and give the creamy texture. Sodium benzoate preserves the formula, with citric acid and sodium hydroxide balancing the pH.

What to watch out for

There is no parfum in the list, which suits fragrance-sensitive users. The main cleanser is a sulfate (SLES) – usually tolerated in mild, well-buffered formulas like this one, but people who know they react to SLES should be aware. Disodium EDTA is a common chelating agent.

What users say

On LOOKFANTASTIC the 400 ml version had an average of 4.68/5 from 186 reviews, and on Shop Apotheke 4.9/5 from 66 ratings (both checked 30 October 2026). Reviewers with dry, delicate or eczema-prone skin – including parents washing babies – describe it as very gentle and say it rinses off cleanly without leaving a residue; several appreciate the refills. The few critical comments concern the price relative to how long it lasts.

Who it may suit

People with dry, sensitive or atopy-prone skin who want a fragrance-free, non-drying body wash for the whole family. It is a cleanser, so it is meant to be followed by a moisturiser where skin is very dry.
