Our review

A fragrance-free body balm built on shea butter, glycerin, dimethicone and niacinamide, with Vitreoscilla ferment and a preservative-free-style system; highly rated, with the pump bottle as the most common complaint.

Packaging and what the product is

The photo (from Open Beauty Facts) shows the 400 ml white pump bottle with La Roche-Posay’s blue square logo and the French claims “baume relipidant triple-réparation” and “dès la naissance” (from birth). It is a rich body balm for very dry, atopy-prone skin. One large retailer we checked now lists AP+M as no longer sold, and the brand also markets a newer Lipikar Baume AP+Max, so stock may be changing.

Ingredient analysis

The first ingredients – water, Butyrospermum Parkii (shea) butter, glycerin, dimethicone – form a classic nourishing balm: shea butter and dimethicone reduce water loss, glycerin draws in moisture. Niacinamide is fifth, a meaningful position. Cetearyl alcohol, Brassica Campestris (rapeseed) oil and glyceryl stearate add body; ammonium polyacryloyldimethyl taurate and PEG-100 stearate stabilise the emulsion.

Ophiopogon Japonicus root extract, mannose and Vitreoscilla ferment are the brand’s signature care ingredients, present in smaller amounts. Instead of classic preservatives, the formula relies on caprylyl glycol and capryloyl glycine with propanediol; tocopherol and an antioxidant protect the oils.

What to watch out for

No parfum is listed, which is helpful for fragrance-sensitive skin. Disodium EDTA and coco-betaine are present in small amounts. The manufacturer markets the balm for use from birth; as with any leave-on product, people with very reactive skin may want to test it on a small area first.

What users say

On Shop Apotheke the balm had an average of 4.7/5 from 428 reviews (checked 30 October 2026). Reviewers – many using it for themselves or for babies and young children with very dry skin – praise the rich texture that still spreads well, long-lasting comfort and good tolerance. The recurring criticism is the pump: several say it stops dispensing before the bottle is empty, leaving product inside; the price is also mentioned as high.

Who it may suit

People of any age with very dry, rough or atopy-prone skin who want a fragrance-free, rich daily body balm. Those who prefer very light lotions may find it heavy; it is a care product, not a treatment.
