Our review

A gradual self-tan body lotion: a shea-and-babassu moisturiser with dihydroxyacetone (DHA) fairly high in the list, walnut shell extract and beta-carotene. Reviews are sharply divided – some find it streak-free and natural, others got little colour or streaks – which gives it a middling average.

Packaging and what the product is

The bielenda.pl photo shows a 200 ml teal tube with a tropical leaf pattern, a gold cap at the bottom and the script logo “bronzing coco”, labelled “nawilżający balsam brązujący – ciało” (moisturising bronzing balm, body) with a 98% natural-origin badge. It is applied like a body lotion and the tan develops over hours.

Ingredient analysis

The emulsion base is water, shea butter, babassu oil, coconut oil, macadamia oil, cocoa butter and coco-caprylate/caprate, emulsified with polyglyceryl esters and glyceryl stearate. Dihydroxyacetone, the self-tanning sugar, sits seventh – a meaningful amount for a bronzing lotion. Walnut shell extract and beta-carotene support the colour; trehalose and propanediol are humectants. Lactic acid keeps the pH low, which DHA needs. Phenoxyethanol, ethylhexylglycerin and benzyl alcohol preserve it.

What to watch out for

DHA reacts with the top layer of skin; the SCCS has assessed it as safe in self-tanning products up to 10%. The colour gives no sun protection. Fragrance allergens benzyl alcohol, benzyl salicylate and linalool are declared. Walnut extract and nut oils (macadamia, coconut) are present. Wash hands after applying to avoid tinted palms, and expect the typical self-tan smell on some skins.

What users say

On Wizaż the balm had 3.3/5 from 15 ratings (checked 31 Oct 2026). Positive reviewers describe an easy, non-sticky application, pleasant coconut scent, good hydration and an even, natural tan without streaks or orange tones. Negative reviewers – several comparing it unfavourably with Bielenda’s discontinued Magic Bronze – found it hard to spread, slow to absorb, too weak in colour or prone to streaking. Results clearly depend on skin tone and application.

Who it may suit

People with fair to medium skin who want a gradual, buildable tan combined with a body moisturiser and are willing to apply carefully. Those wanting a fast, deep tan, or who are sensitive to fragrance, may prefer other formats.
