Our review
A fragrance-free, oil-rich body and face balm for very dry and atopy-prone skin, combining several plant oils with skin-identical glycolipids and no classic preservatives. Reviewers are largely positive about comfort; a few dislike its smell on the skin or find the effect short-lived.

Packaging and what the product is
The photo on fr.svr.com shows a white 400 ml pump bottle labelled “SVR” and “Baume Protect+ Topialyse”, with one hand pressing the pump and the other receiving a dollop of white balm. It is a leave-on emollient balm for face and body, meant for very dry, atopy-prone skin in adults and children; the list provided matches SVR’s current version.
Ingredient analysis
Water is followed by four plant oils – sunflower, coconut, babassu and castor – which make up the lipid-rich core. Cetearyl alcohol, hydrogenated castor oil and glyceryl stearate SE give the balm its body, emulsified with cetearyl glucoside and sodium stearoyl glutamate.
Ophiopogon japonicus root extract is the plant active SVR highlights; at the end of the list come glycosphingolipids and glycolipids, lipids related to those in the skin barrier. Maltodextrin and pentylene glycol add moisture, and an antioxidant protects the oils. There is no parfum and no classic preservative – 1,2-hexanediol, caprylyl glycol and pentylene glycol take on that role.
What to watch out for
No fragrance and no labelled allergens, a plus for reactive skin. The oils give a noticeable natural odour, which some users find unpleasant. Itching, oozing or infected eczema patches need medical assessment; an emollient is a supportive skincare product, not a treatment.
What users say
On LOOKFANTASTIC the balm has 4.76/5 from 113 reviews in several languages (checked 31 Oct 2026). Many describe it as the product that finally relieved tight, uncomfortable dry or atopy-prone skin, for themselves and for their children; some also use it on the face, and the lack of fragrance is appreciated. Others mention comfort after chlorine exposure or during dry, menopausal skin phases.
Critical voices say the comfort does not last long and needs frequent reapplication, that it sits as an oily layer rather than sinking in, and one buyer was put off by a rancid, fried-oil smell once applied.
Who it may suit
People with very dry or atopy-prone skin who want a fragrance-free, preservative-light emollient in a large pump format. Those who dislike oily finishes or are sensitive to natural oil odours may prefer a lighter lotion.
