Our review

A rich, oil-forward anti-ageing face cream that combines macadamia, avocado and sesame oils and squalane with a 9.6% peptide/plant complex and hyaluronic acid. It is a well-built moisturiser with a high rating on the brand’s site, but it is expensive, fragranced and contains several listed fragrance allergens.

Packaging and what the product is

The babor.com photo shows a wide, squat brushed-silver jar with a silver lid, printed in white with “9.6 % Peptide Plant Complex”, “Collagen-Peptide Booster Cream” and “DOCTOR BABOR”. The jar holds 50 ml (listed at $180 on us.babor.com). It is a day and/or night cream for mature and dry skin, taken out of the jar with the fingers or a spatula.

Ingredient analysis

Glycerin follows water, then a generous lipid phase: macadamia seed oil, squalane (the brand states 4%), dicaprylyl carbonate, avocado and sesame oils and hydrogenated vegetable glycerides; the brand gives 8% for the three plant oils. Cetearyl alcohol and potassium cetyl phosphate build the emulsion. This makes it a nourishing cream for dry skin rather than a light gel.

The “peptide plant complex” includes palmitoyl tripeptide-5, palmitoyl tetrapeptide-72 amide, tripeptide-1 and a plant-derived hexapeptide-40 sh-polypeptide-47, alongside the brand’s plant blend (bladderwrack, fumitory, watercress, ginseng, rosemary, figwort, nettle, agrimony). Peptides are popular in anti-ageing care, but their evidence comes mainly from manufacturer and small studies, so expect smoothing and comfort rather than collagen rebuilding. Panthenol, sodium hyaluronate and vitamin E support hydration and stability; phenoxyethanol and ethylhexylglycerin preserve, and alcohol denat. appears low in the list.

What to watch out for

The cream contains parfum plus lemon peel oil and the declared allergens geraniol, hexyl cinnamal, limonene, linalyl acetate and pinene, so people with fragrance allergy or very reactive skin should be careful. Sesame and macadamia oils matter for people with seed or nut allergies, although refined oils rarely cause reactions. The rich oil content may feel heavy on oily or acne-prone skin. Patch test first if you are sensitive.

On us.babor.com the cream had an average of 4.7/5 from 90 reviews (checked 1 Nov 2026). Positive reviews praise the light, pleasant texture, the scent and how comfortable the skin feels all day; one reviewer simply said they had never used anything better. A three-star review liked the effect but complained that the protective film under the lid was hard to remove, which they found unacceptable at this price. We did not find many independent reviews elsewhere.

Who it may suit

Adults with dry or mature skin who want a nourishing, fragranced cream with peptides and plant oils and are comfortable with a premium price. Those with fragrance allergies, oily or breakout-prone skin, or who want proven collagen-building effects should look at other options.
