A sulphate-free, rose-scented shower gel based on glucoside and glutamate surfactants. The handful of reviews love the scent and soft-skin feel; fragrance is the obvious trade-off for sensitive skin.

Packaging and what the product is

The photo on caudalie.com shows a pink squeeze tube standing on a white cap, with the white “CAUDALIE” logo and “Rose de Vigne – Gel Douche / Shower Gel”; the full size is 200 ml, and the 30 ml listing in our database is the travel version. Caudalie describes rhubarb, rose and white musk notes.

Ingredient analysis

After water come mild, sulphate-free surfactants: decyl glucoside, sodium cocoyl glutamate and sucrose cocoate, with glycerin as a humectant. The gel is thickened with an acrylates crosspolymer; propanediol, sodium glutamate, sodium chloride, coconut acid and a little aloe leaf juice follow.

Preservation is light: caprylyl glycol and potassium sorbate, with citric acid for pH. The perfume sits in sixth place, relatively high for a shower gel. The current official list differs slightly in order and minor ingredients.

What to watch out for

Declared allergens are limonene, linalool, hydroxycitronellal and citronellol; hydroxycitronellal is a fragrance allergen with an EU concentration limit. Those with fragrance allergies or very reactive skin may prefer an unscented wash; for most others, a rinse-off product is a low-exposure way to enjoy a scent.

The only non-5-star review praises the formula but simply prefers another scent in the range. No negative reports on dryness or irritation appear in this small sample.
