Our review

A light Korean moisturiser that combines azelaic acid (fourth in the list) with squalane, many forms of hyaluronic acid and centella compounds, scented with essential oils. Public reviews are still very few and mixed for oily skin.

Packaging and what the product is

The photo on Anua's US site shows a frosted pump bottle with a mint-green base, the “Anua” logo, a large “3+” and a green band reading “AZELAIC ACID + CICA”, with “Skin soothing moisturizer” and 100 mL / 3.38 fl. oz. on the label. It is a lotion-type daily moisturiser.

Ingredient analysis

Water and butylene glycol lead, followed by squalane and azelaic acid in fourth place – a prominent position for this active. Pentylene glycol and 1,2-hexanediol double as humectants and preservative boosters; caprylic/capric triglyceride adds lightweight emollience, and hydroxypropyl cyclodextrin is commonly used to help dissolve azelaic acid. The emulsion relies on cetearyl olivate/sorbitan olivate, polyglyceryl-3 methylglucose distearate and an ammonium polyacryloyldimethyl taurate thickener.

Further down are about a dozen hyaluronic acid forms, totarol, and Centella asiatica extracts with madecassoside, asiaticoside, asiatic acid and madecassic acid. Ethylhexylglycerin supports preservation. There is no separate parfum, but rosemary, bergamot, geranium and grapefruit peel oils provide scent.

What to watch out for

The essential oils bring limonene, citronellol, geraniol and linalool – a drawback for fragrance-sensitive or rosacea-prone skin, even if the product is marketed as soothing. Azelaic acid can tingle at first.

What users say

Opinions are scarce. On LOOKFANTASTIC it has 3.7/5 from 3 reviews (checked 31 Oct 2026): one user says her skin was glowing after a week and tolerated it better than other azelaic acid products, one finds it a nice, light moisturiser that is not rich enough for winter, and one with very oily skin felt it made her T-zone oilier, though it did not upset her rosacea.

Anua's US page shows a single 5-star review (checked 31 Oct 2026). With four reviews in total, no firm conclusion is possible.

Who it may suit

Normal to combination skin that wants a light moisturiser with azelaic acid and does not mind essential oils. Very oily skin may find it too shiny, dry skin may need something richer in winter, and fragrance-sensitive skin may prefer an unscented azelaic product.
