Our review

A 200 ml SPF 50+ pump spray for face and body with Avène thermal spring water and a modern filter set – methylene bis-benzotriazolyl tetramethylbutylphenol (nano), bemotrizinol, iscotrizinol and avobenzone – plus fragrance. Polish users rate it very highly for its light, non-greasy feel; note that Avène has updated this spray over the years.

Packaging and what the product is

The Open Beauty Facts photo shows an orange-coral 200 ml bottle with a white pump-spray head, the Eau Thermale Avène logo and the label “très haute protection – very high protection 50+”. It is a non-aerosol lotion spray, applied generously and spread by hand.

Ingredient analysis

Avène thermal spring water leads, followed by the emollients C12-15 alkyl benzoate and dicaprylyl carbonate. UV protection comes from methylene bis-benzotriazolyl tetramethylbutylphenol (nano), bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine, diethylhexyl butamido triazone and butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane (avobenzone) – a broad UVA/UVB combination without octocrylene. Glycerin, diisopropyl adipate and cetearyl isononanoate shape the feel; lauryl and decyl glucoside, polysorbate 20 and polyglyceryl esters emulsify. Tocopherol and tocopheryl glucoside are antioxidants; benzoic acid and caprylyl glycol preserve it.

What to watch out for

Despite Avène’s sensitive-skin positioning, the spray contains fragrance (parfum); no individual allergens are declared. Avobenzone can stain light fabrics. The [nano] filter is labelled as EU rules require. Use enough product – sprays are easy to under-apply – reapply after swimming and towelling, and avoid spraying directly at the face; spray into the hand first. Keep babies out of direct sun.

What users say

On Wizaż the spray had 4.9/5 from 108 ratings (checked 31 Oct 2026). Users praise the light texture that absorbs quickly without a greasy or white film, the convenient pump, water resistance and suitability for sensitive skin on face and body, at the beach or in the mountains. One reviewer was mildly disappointed despite the high protection, and another disliked one ingredient in the formula. Some reviews may concern earlier or later versions of the spray, as Avène has reformulated it.

Who it may suit

People with normal or sensitive skin who want a light, high-protection spray for face and body and do not mind a fragrance. Those with fragrance allergies should look for an unscented Avène or other sunscreen.
