Our review

A popular, inexpensive exfoliating toner with 7% glycolic acid in a big 240 ml bottle. Effective for dull, uneven skin and body use, but it is an acid product: start slowly and use sunscreen.

Packaging and what the product is

The photo, taken by an Open Beauty Facts contributor, shows the tall white carton labelled 'Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution', marked 'Direct Acid', with the declared pH of about 3.6 and the 240 ml size printed on the front. Inside is a plastic bottle meant to be applied with a cotton pad. Recent packaging calls the same product 'Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating Toner', and a 100 ml size also exists.

Ingredient analysis

Glycolic acid is the first ingredient after water, consistent with the 7% in the name. The base is made of floral waters (rose, cornflower) and aloe leaf water, with propanediol and glycerin as humectants. Triethanolamine and aminomethyl propanol partly neutralise the acid to reach the stated pH.

The rest is a moisturising and soothing add-on: ginseng root extract, Tasmanian pepperberry extract (often used to calm stinging), a set of amino acids, sugars, urea, sodium PCA and sodium lactate. Hexyl nicotinate is a niacin ester that warms the skin and can cause temporary redness. The preservation includes potassium sorbate.

What to watch out for

Alpha hydroxy acids make skin more sensitive to the sun, so daily sun protection is important while using it. Tingling is common; burning, peeling or redness mean you should use it less often. Don't apply it to freshly shaved or broken skin. Triethanolamine is subject to conditions in the EU, which the manufacturer has to meet; the label does not show its amount. Combining it with other acids or retinoids on the same evening increases the risk of irritation.

What users say

It is one of the best-rated products in the brand's range: 4.7/5 from 568 ratings on Lyko.pl and about 4.6/5 from over 2,400 reviews on Cult Beauty UK (both checked 30.10.2026). Users praise a brighter, smoother look, help with rough bumps on the arms and with ingrown hairs, and the value of the large bottle, which many also use on the body, underarms and feet. The most common caveats: it can sting, especially after shaving, and results are gradual. A Hypebae tester mentioned a slight, manageable tingling and suggested sensitive skin should start twice a week.

Who it may suit

Normal, oily and combination skin with dullness or uneven texture, and people looking for a body exfoliant against rough skin or ingrown hairs. Very sensitive or compromised skin should start with low frequency or choose a gentler acid.
